Elba Island

Days 8/9/10:
Isola d'Elba - island style
Isola d'Elba  is the local name for Elba Island, a small, rugged island lying ten kilometres off the coast of mainland Italy. The group (and support vehicle) will travel to and from the island by ferry.

With beautiful beaches, picturesque villages and a mountainous interior, each August Elba draws thousands of tourists. Outside this period it remains a quiet and laid-back place, home to just a few thousand residents.

The walking route proposed follows an old trail linking villages on the island's south coast with the north coast. The walk encompasses mountain wilderness, secluded beaches, small villages, and panoramic views across the Mediterranean Sea.

Accommodation:
Two nights in a 3-star hotel in the seaside village of Marciana Marina.

Elba Island highlights:
The island atmosphere, its rugged natural environment and fascinating history. The coast to coast trek, and the views out to other islands of the Mediterranean. The cuisine: Tuscan with a particular island style.
