Only a few miles inland from the coast of Tuscany lies the high mountain range known as the Alpi Apuane.
Here at the end of a steep, winding road you can find picturesque Pruno, an ancient village of around 100 inhabitants.
There are many beautiful walk options in the area including challenging hikes to alpine passes along historic pilgrimage routes, or more gentle strolls around Pruno and its nearby villages.
Evening meals are eaten in Pruno’s only restaurant and village hub, a small, elegant venue serving incredible meals. Local culinary specialities include wild boar, chestnut, porcini mushrooms and pecorino cheese.
